Seasons End

14.8 - CopyThe river season has finally drawn to a close but we did manage to sneak out a couple of days before the end of the season.  With the torrential rain we have had over the winter the rivers have been completely unfishable on any method so it was typical for the rivers to be just about perfect as the season ended.

The trent was at a good level however the colour just wasn’t right.  It had a bit of a milky tinge to it that just didn’t seem right.  Nevertheless myself and Andy C fished a few likely looking spots with just the one fish about 6lb to show for it.  Andy had a good fish swirl at his fly under one of the weirs on the Trent.

We then fished a tributary of the trent which looked in much better condition.  The river was still racing through despite it being at it’s normal winter level.  Despite this we managed to tempt 6 more fish with me getting a decent fish weighing 14.8.  We did notice that the fish wanted a larger fly than normal and black and purple certainly did the trick for me.
