River Report – 2nd March 2014

Andy 16.12After what has felt like an eternity I have managed a couple of trips to the rivers over the past week.  They are still a little on the high side with the Trent still carrying quite a bit of colour.  Some of her tributaries have faired better though and are running clear.  Finding slack water out of the main flow has proved a little trickier.

Myself and Andy Cheetham made an early start this morning before dawn in the hope of catching some early feeding fish.  After trying a couple of different waters Andy latched into a fish weighing 11.8.  We both saw the fish take under the rod end and when we got her in the net we couldn’t believe how fat she was.  We then moved onto another stretch of water where Andy caught another fish around the 6lb mark.  I wouldn’t say the fishing was explosive but it was nice to find some fish in tricky conditions.  Eventually we found a nice long stretch of water that has produced fish in the past and today was no exception.  A couple of hours sport in this area produced 8 fish between us with Andy catching his personal best river fish weighing 16.12.
